There’s no better feeling than spending your time outside in the summertime. On the other hand, there’s no worse feeling than having burnt, dried skin. As a result, there are things you should be doing to help keep your skin healthy this summer.
Apply Enough Sunscreen
While there are many people that don’t wear sunscreen at all (shame on you), there are just as many people who don’t wear enough! Rather than just applying a small dab to spread around, make sure you’re applying at least a shot glass sized amount. Spread the sunscreen on evenly throughout your body and make sure you’re applying this 30 minutes before heading outside (and reapplying every 90 minutes).
Double Check Medication
Certain prescription medications can cause your skin to become sensitive and more prone to being burned by the sun. Consult your physician to find out if any of your current medications have this side effect. If so, ask if there are any substitutes worth taking or precautions to take if you’re eager to be outside this summer.
Eat Your Way to Perfect Skin
Having healthy skin doesn’t always require you to be applying lotions and practicing a rigid skincare routine. You can also choose to have great skin by adjusting the foods you eat on a daily basis. Increase your skin’s collagen growth by eating antioxidant-rich foods like blueberries, various melons, and leafy green veggies. To help repair damaged skin, eat more salmon and egg whites.
Healthy skin should be a priority throughout the entire year, especially in the summer when the sun is blazing! For other useful tips and information, visit our blog!
