  • I am a doctor and know the local assisted living communities well. The Arbors stands out for several reasons, but more importantly because of the warmth of the staff and residents. My mom moved in five months ago and is very happy at The Arbors. The support staff are so caring, they check in on her every night. The on-site medical care is excellent. Mom is followed by a superb physician, Dr. Rattner. Randi, the incredibly reliable case manager makes sure things run smoothly and always follows up on my questions. The Wellness Center manages a wide variety of medical conditions including diabetes, heart failure and COPD. My mom makes jewelry as a hobby. The entertainment staff helped her set up and hold a holiday art show to showcase her craft. Mom plays Rummikub and Bingo nightly with a competitive group of friends and enjoys a vigorous game of chair volleyball after breakfast. The best part about The Arbors is the staff. When you walk in, Amy colorfully decorates the lobby and social areas for the holidays or season. Fatima greets you warmly at the front desk. Chef Albert trained at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) and is a master chef. He goes out of his way to please.

  • The employees at The Arbors are like family. They treat my mother with compassion and understanding. They are very friendly and caring not only for the residents, but also for the family of the residents. We are glad we chose The Arbors knowing my mother is well cared for and in great hands.

  • My father has been in SafeCare since July 2020. I could not ask for a better place for him, especially during Covid when families were not allowed in the facility to be with their loved ones. They treat my father like the King that he is! I can’t say enough about their beautiful, clean, well-kept property and the attention that staff gives my father. They honestly treat him like family.

  • First, we did a virtual tour, and then we brought Mom to visit in person. It's a smaller place, and they take very good care of their residents. My mother feels well cared for and is happy. What more could you ask for at this stage in her life? Everything is spotless. They come in every day to clean. They make sure she gets her medications on time. She's made some friends. And she gets her hair and nails done at the onsite salon. The staff do a lot to keep the residents involved and help them get acclimated . They go out of their way and actively reach out to the residents to draw them into the activities. They have the bus going out again to take them on outings. She really likes the food. I think it's a great value.

  • We chose The Arbors because when we went to this particular facility, we walked in and it felt like you were walking into someones living room not a nursing home. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. They bent over backwards for us especially with moving him in here during covid. The one main selling point was they did not up charge if your loved one had to take medications, it is all included with the price unlike the other facilities we saw. They gave us a tasting on the food before we moved him in here and it was awesome. When covid is not going on, they do provide a lot of activities for the residents. There are also a lot of men at The Arbors, which was nice, most of the time it is primarily women. I would highly recommend to others looking.   Five Stars for East!! Keep up the great work!! Kudos to Ro & her team!!

  • As a resident for just under a year, I would say that Arbors, Islandia East, is a good place to be. The environment is friendly and open. The residents are enjoyable to interact with and so interesting to spend time with. A lot of work goes into making things work here and three groups stand out. The Activities group do a great job keeping residence engaged in activities that are stimulating as well as fun and engaging with one another. There are outside entertainers brought in periodically and shuttle service to local stores, restaurants and churches. They even have excursions to local Theatres. The Wellness group is great as well. They care of the resident's medication administration, they also help with the caring for resident's well-being in many ways such as helping with showers and other activities that some resident's need that little 'extra' help to accomplish. The House Keeping staff is also excellent. They clean the rooms regularly and are responsive to individual requests. The facility and public areas are always clean and stocked with the items needed in each section. Tariek heads up House Keeping. He is responsive to our requests and complaints as well as makes it a point to follow up with us to ensure those issues don't fall through the cracks and get forgotten. He goes out of his way to help work things out and he also has a winning personality which makes it easy to approach him when necessary. The staff under him all seem to follow suit in terms of friendly attitudes when we interface with them as well. It does help make the environment here a terrific place.

  • My stepfather “Pop” has resided at The Arbors at Westbury for 6 yrs. Initially a rough transition from independent living, I credit the staff’s support, kindness, & patience in helping him adapt. I live out of state, & the staff was sensitive & responsive to my needs/requests to help Pop settle in. It is so gratifying when Pop calls The Arbors “his home”. He often tells me “This is the best place for me, the food is very good &; I like it here”. The staff at The Arbors are interested in getting to know their residents & strive to help make their lives enjoyable & comfortable, in a friendly & dignified environment. They do a good job balancing Pop’s needs to retain some control, independence, & privacy, & his need for assistance. The staff have made a positive impact on Pop’s life! I will only mention a few ways. Wellness is invaluable in meeting Pop’s health care/personal needs. The Chef is a “gourmet cook” by Pop’s standards. The staff help Pop with his cell phone, so he can make/receive calls, & feel more secure. Maintenance adjusts Pop’s TV & recliner when necessary, so he is comfortable & feels at home. The Case Manager ensures that Pop has what he needs by communicating with me regularly. She is invaluable in assisting me to participate in & manage Pop’s care & personal affairs long distance! I highly recommend The Arbors at Westbury for “your person…your loved one”!

  • Arbor Westbury has a great staff. They are caring and very attentive. My friend Sue has been at Arbor Westbury for eight months, she is doing well. Prior to living there she seemed lonely and isolated. Now she has friends and is very social. All her meals are prepared, her laundry is taken care of. She now has time to enjoy her life. I thank all the people at Arbor Westbury who made her life so much easier. They have made a big difference.

  • When you are looking for a place for mom/dad, I urge you to look no further than arbors at Islandia west. My mom has been a resident for over 3 years. From day one the staff made her transition and experience as easy and comfortable as they could by shadowing her and matching her with residents for creating friendship and bonds. The staff has and continue to be kind and caring. Everyone from the receptionist, wellness room maintenance are always attentive to mom’s needs. The recreation staff is the focal point of her daily life with activities such as crafts, bingo, current events, exercise, religious services, and constant encouragement for participation. The recreation staff’s true dedication was especially highlighted during pandemic. All the staff stepped in as an extended family for mom. In conclusion I am so very grateful to the dedicated staff at arbors west community. But more importantly I was reassured that the home I chose for mom was the best choice I could have made not only for mom but for my own peace of mind.

  • Choosing a second assisted living for my mom-was made so much simpler with the assistance of Lisa and case manage Tawanda. At our first visit my brother and I felt completely comfortable at The Arbors. Finding safe care- where every employee really cares for the residents, has been amazing. It’s awesome to know that my mom is in such a loving “safe care” living environment. Each time my family visits, we are always politely welcomed and offered to join in with “happy hour” snacks! Thank you all for giving my mom an incredible place to reside.

  • My parents moved into Arbors at Islandia West about a month ago. We have been really happy with everything so far. My dad loves everyone that works there and enjoys their company. My mom who requires more care has been receiving the best care we would've ever asked for her. If you are searching for a place for your loved one, I would say visit Arbors.

  • Our Mom, Dorothy, has been a resident at The Arbors for over five years. She previously lived at The Bristal, and while everything was fine there, due to finances, we made the decision to move her to The Arbors. Our only regret is that we didn't make the move sooner! The care she receives from your amazing staff is warm, loving, personal, and sincere. They go above and beyond to meet her needs. The one person we would like to highlight is Fatima. We remember meeting Fatima on our first visit to The Arbors while we were on our introductory tour. After that, every time we saw her, it was obvious that she remembered us. We have gotten to know Fatima well over the past five years. If we can say that any good came out of the pandemic, Fatima would be on the top of the list. She always kept in touch with us, sent us pictures of Mom, as she still does. I remember her orchestrating a birthday party for Mom in 2020, complete with cupcakes, balloons, party hats, etc. and we celebrated together through the glass doors in the lobby. She is the kindest, sweetest and most loving person, and you are so blessed to have her as an employee. We've never seen Fatima without a beautiful smile on her face and treating everyone - residents, staff and visitors with dignity and respect. I don't know if she has any time off because every time we visit or I speak to her, she's at work, and she seems to love being there. Fatima texts me updates on how Mom is doing, along with pictures showing how happy and well cared for she looks. We are so grateful to the staff, especially Fatima, for enriching Mom's life at The Arbors, a place she truly calls home. She enjoys being with us when we take her out, but she's always ready to go back home. She truly feels comfortable there. We thank you and the wonderful staff at The Arbors for all you do and wish you a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year!

  • Our family wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for one of your exceptional staff members, Carmen E. On Friday, January 3, 2025, our Mother Rosemarie woke up feeling a bit under the weather and understandably anxious. I was able to visit her ad lend a hand, but eventually had to return to work. Although she was feeling better, the winter blues were beginning to set in. I reached out to Meghan, asking if someone could encourage Mom to join the activities in the Great Room and to go to the dining room for lunch. That's when the magic happened! Carmen knocked on Mom's door and warmly encouraged her to come down and join the fun. Not only did she walk her to the great room, but she also sat and talked with her, engaging her with kindness, respect, and genuine compassion. Carmen's thoughtful gesture made a world of difference for Mom; she called us all raving about how wonderful and kind Carmen had been. How she made her smile and laugh. In fact, she declared it was the best day she has had since moving in! We would be so grateful if you could pass along this letter and our sincere gratitude to Carmen. We hope you take a moment to share our experience with the entire team, as it beautifully illustrates the profound impact that kindness, empathy, and compassion can have on someone's day. These qualities may not cost anything, but their value is truly priceless to hose on the receiving end.

“The life of a caregiver is truly very difficult, and with no training, I’m just a daughter, I made it work, but it got to be too much. It was a very difficult decision to have my mom move here. The folks here made my transition very easy, very helpful, very friendly, the staff is great. It was just a real comfort to me when I left. I felt that my mom was in really good hands.  I have such peace of mind knowing that my mom is being well taken care of at The Arbors.”

“Living at The Arbors has changed my life completely. I am in a new world.  When I started to fall last year, and had to be rushed to the hospital, I was scared. I didn’t want to leave my home. But I’ve made a lot of friends here. It’s a big family. Arbors makes it very comfortable for me. The staff are great, they would take you to the moon if they could. I say my prayers every night and thank God for finding this place for me.”

“I love my apartment at The Arbors. It’s just enough space for me to relax. I spend my days socializing with my new friends in the shared spaces, so my home actually got bigger, not smaller.”

“Make new friends, but keep the old. Some are silver and some are gold…Over eight years, I’ve made a lot of friends, new ones, old ones, and I’ve enjoyed all of them immensely. I guess coming into a place like this, you wonder who’s going to be a friend, but then you find so many friends, whether they’re residents or staff. My favorite part about The Arbors is the people that I’ve met, they take good care of me.”
