Looking in the mirror is a way for people to see how they look and it allows them to make adjustments accordingly. Rather than worry about your look, pay attention to what the mirror is trying to tell you. Certain aspects of your face can reveal hidden diseases you might have, or are currently developing.
- Dry Skin & Lips – The everyday person will rub in some lotion and apply chapstick, but think about why your skin is dry. A common cause of dry skin is dehydration, so make sure you’re getting in your daily intake of water. If this persists, consider getting checked for diabetes or hypothyroidism.
- Yellow Eyelids – Having yellow cholesterol-filled spots near the eyes is usually a sign that points to heart disease. This increased risk in heart disease is brought due to the hardening of arteries. Studies have shown that 50 percent of patients with these eye lesions are more likely to have a heart attack in the coming years.
- Strange Skin Color – Everyone has their own unique skin color, but suddenly having one that’s different than normal could mean something bad. Looking paler than normal could be due to anemia. Having a yellow-ish skin tone could indicate liver disease. Check your lips and nails as well because a bluish color could hint at heart or lung disease.
- Rashes – Facial rashes can develop due to many different diseases. The most common diseases that trigger rashes include celiac disease and lupus. Infections like eczema, rosacea, and allergies can also cause rashes to occur.
- Changing Jaw Line – A receding chin, a thickening neck, and a small jaw are all signs that point to sleep apnea. If you’re not sure of a difference in your face, loud snoring and morning headaches can help confirm the diagnosis.
Covering up any negative facial traits with makeup and lotions can prevent you from finding out what the underlying reason is for the changes in your body.
