A small intimate neighborhood within our Islandia West community
At The Arbors, we understand that some residents, who have experienced some memory loss, may feel more comfortable in a smaller environment. That is why we have created our unique Transitions Neighborhood at Islandia. Transitions Neighborhood is a scaled down environment for someone who may desire just a little extra TLC, an ideal neighborhood for someone who is independent but may be a little forgetful or have slight difficulty navigating a larger community.
transition from Assisted Living to Memory Care
If your family member is experiencing some symptoms of memory loss or has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, they may not need to move into memory care immediately. If they are forgetful, but their personality and behavior are relatively the same, then they could benefit from the smaller more intimate Transitions Neighborhood. It is a warm, comforting and supportive environment that nurtures residents living with mild or early-stage memory loss, but are not quite ready for our SafeCare Neighborhood. Transitions can help provide a smooth, gradual transition from assisted living to memory care.
Activities and Socialization
Focusing on smaller group settings that are less distracting, activities are specifically structured to meet each resident at their cognitive level, while still challenging and stimulating their mind. We encourage interaction and participation from our residents to avoid the isolation that can sometimes happen with memory loss.
specially-trained staff
Our highly trained staff can help manage the confusion, nervousness, and anxiety that can come with memory loss. The smaller neighborhood enables our staff to be fine-tuned to the unique needs, likes and dislikes of each individual resident.
Nutrition and Wellness
Getting proper nutrition can be difficult for those who suffer from memory loss. Residents may forget to eat or to drink to stay hydrated. We closely monitor our residents’ eating habits, ensure they get a balanced diet and enough liquids throughout the day. Dining is also a social event to bond with their neighbors and friends over a good meal, and we encourage this comradery.
