Can you feel the sun’s warmth on your face as you smell the different flower scents? Spring is almost here so it is time to plan and prepare for going outside. Here’s how you can get active this spring:
Get Active
Spring is time to put a lift in your step as you begin your daily walks. Walking will help with your body’s circulation as you remove those winter kinks. You may be a little sore at first so build up gradually by adding a bit more distance each day.
On sunny days, find a bench or place to sit to do stretches. Lift those arms to the sky and sway from side to side. Stretch your legs out and roll your hips gently. Place your arms and hands behind you resting on the bench, lean back as you lift your face to the sky and let the sun’s warmth blend with your smile.
Spring Cleaning
Spring is a great time to clean up! Out with the old and in with the new. The most subtle changes can make a big difference. Sprucing things up can be refreshing to the body, mind, and spirit. Try redressing the bed with new linens as well as picking a new towel color. Be sure to add a new flower arrangement as a celebration of spring.
Visit With Family
There is nothing more fun for a senior than sharing time with the kids and grandkids. Suggest a picnic at a place where you can feed the birds. Be sure to bring some seeds. Time to clean up the rods and reels for some local fishing. You can help teach catch and release methods for the fish that are not ready to be eaten. Ice cream and miniature golf are great family activities. Remember to take photos so that everyone can have memories of these fun times.
The Arbors Assisted Living community is there for you as your body and mind want to relax and take it easy during this part of your life. Being a senior in a location with assistance, is a comfort knowing you are surrounded by people who can care for your particular needs. What a release of everyday stress for you and your family.
