Eating healthier foods on a daily basis can help your body perform and feel better. Some of these healthy foods can also help you look better, also known as anti-aging foods. Now that we’re well into spring, take advantage of this season’s crop of anti-aging eats!
- Beets – Betaine is an amino acid within beets that can assist with reducing your risk of inflammation, the accumulation of fat in the liver, and high blood pressure. On top of those health benefits, beets contain powerful antioxidants that will keep your skin youthful. There are people who love beets, and there are those who hate them — but you can’t deny how good they are for you!
- Strawberries – Studies have shown that alpha hydroxy acids have been linked to reversing the signs of aging. Luckily, these acids are plentiful in strawberries! Additional health benefits include the removal of dead skin cells, healthy cell renewal, and assisting with balancing blood sugar.
- Carrots – This classic vegetable is rich in beta-carotene, a chemical compound that is converted by the body into vitamin A. High levels of vitamin A have been found to be great for your hair, skin, vision, and immune system. The vitamin A found in carrots is also called retinol — a very popular ingredient in most anti-aging creams.
- Asparagus – This stinky vegetable is well-known for its vitamin K content and how it can help prevent blood clots. It’s also rich in lycopene, a chemical compound that can reduce your risk for prostate cancer. If these health benefits weren’t enough for you, asparagus also contains glutathione, an antioxidant that has been linked to slow down the aging process.
