August is in the books, and what wonderful memories we created! To help celebrate the last full month of summer, our residents enjoyed a wide variety of summer activities that put a whole bunch of smiles on a whole bunch of faces! Take a peek at how we made this last full month of summer, a ton of fun in the sun!
Fishing Trip
You can’t go through an entire summer without going on at least one fishing trip! Our residents enjoyed a wonderful day fishing aboard Captain Gillen at the Captree State Park. The weather was absolutely beautiful — not a cloud in the sky. We caught Sea Robins, Crabs and Fluke. Joseph Greco caught the biggest fish of the day — a fluke that was 20 inches long! We were seriously impressed!
Summer Fun Day – Coney Island Carnival Style
We all know Coney Island gets a little too packed during the summertime. So rather than waiting in lines and driving all the way there, we brought some Coney Island fun to The Arbors! Our residents and their families enjoyed games, prizes, live music, balloons, sunshine, corn dogs and popcorn — staples of every carnival. I don’t know who smiled more, our residents or their amazing grandchildren!
Hawaiian Luau
ALOHA! No summer is complete without at least one Luau. We enjoyed a day filled with all things Hawaiian. From tropical food tastings, the sound of the steel drum, and even learning to hula! It was truly a tropical time to remember for the residents of The Arbors at Westbury!
The Arbors Olympic Games
Team USA might have just recruited some new members! The Arbors at Westbury hosted five teams from each of the The Arbors locations. Complete with the opening ceremony march, to the medal ceremonies, our athletes enjoyed their day of competing against their sister Arbors communities! It was a perfect day of beautiful weather, fun and games, and friends and family to help cheer on our five teams!
