With classes in American Literature, Nutrition, Long Island History and Psychology to just name a few, The Adult Education Series offered at The Arbors is packed full of knowledge waiting to be explored. The residents are re-motivated to learn and envision a part of their lives as stimulating and challenging.
This year’s Valedictorian was Ethel Kay, who with her heart warming speech, inspired us all to have hope for the future, hold on to our passion, and keep on smiling! These have gotten Ethel through 100 wonderful years! Read this small excerpt from her speech.
“…We all have something that we are passionate about, whether it’s reading, puzzles, art, or word games. Hold on to the things you are passionate about, and it will give you the satisfaction to keep you going. And lastly, don’t forget to smile. I have found that when we smile more and focus on the good things, it helps to diminish the things that bother us, especially things that we have no control of. Smiles are contagious; when you smile at a person, you more than likely to get one back in return. Smile more and you will find that you can spread joy from that simple act of kindness…” – Ethel Kay 2014
