4 Strange Factors That Can Affect Your Risk of Heart Disease

Every year, the number one killer in the United States is heart disease. Most know that the common risk factors for developing this disease are a poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking, obesity, etc. Yet, there are other strange factors that can affect your chances of developing this dangerous disease.

  • Breakfast – The easiest way to reduce your risk of developing heart disease: eat breakfast. Studies have shown that those who eat a balanced breakfast every morning have lower rates of heart disease, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. For those who skip this meal, your risk increases for all three of these health conditions.
  • Weight Lifting – Everyone knows that going for a jog is good for reducing your risk of heart disease, but what about the weights? Lifting weights has shown to improve the functionality of blood vessels. For the best exercise regiment, take part in an equal amount of weekly cardio, weightlifting, and of course — stretching.
  • Education – An Australian study has shown that for those who completed more years of schooling, the less likely they were to have a heart attack. By receiving a good education, it will affect what type of job you get, how much money you make, where you live, and what lifestyle and food choices you make.
  • Stress – There is a positive correlation between high levels of stress and inflammation in the arteries. For those who are stressed often, this can lead to diseases such as hypertension that can cause heart problems. When you find yourself stressed out, walk away from the situation and go do something that will put a smile on your face.
