Happiness is a wonderful thing for your soul! Wouldn’t you rather be smiling and laughing instead of frowning and pouting? For those who are striving to be a happier person, or just need a pick-me-up every once in awhile, mix a few of these tips into your everyday life.
Wake Up and Smile
Do you ever wake up, look in the mirror, and think about what you would change about yourself? Get out of this mindset and start the day off by being as positive as you can! A good way to start the day on the right side of the bed is to turn on some of your favorite music as you get ready for the day. Meditating is also a great way to clear your mind and relax (which can be done while you listen to your favorite music).
Snap Out of It
Throughout the day, you’re going to be exposed to negativity no matter how happy of a person you are. A simple trick to combat negativity — wear a rubber band (we’re serious)! If you start to experience negative thoughts or self-doubt, simply pull back on the rubber band and allow it to snap against your skin. This is your reminder that you need to “snap out of it” and move on with your day.
Let Your Mind Wander
Stress is inevitable and some people will experience more than others. If you ever feel a little too stressed out, unplug from the world and take a few minutes to daydream. Thinking about things that make you happy without interruption can help you relax and forget about what currently ails you. Ten minutes of simple daydreaming will do the trick!
Catch a Few Zs
Not getting enough sleep is bad for both your physical and mental health. Those who don’t get the recommended seven to eight hours have a higher risk of being depressed than those who do get enough shuteye. If you start to think negative thoughts or become depressed during the day, take a half hour to nap it off. You should wake up feeling refreshed and at ease!
